Forza Horizon 6 Leaks Early Through Unencrypted Steam Preload

Forza Horizon 6 has leaked online before release after an unencrypted Steam preload exposed around 155 GB of game files, with reports now claiming that a cracked version is being shared through torrent and piracy sites.

Forza Horizon 6 LeakForza Horizon 6 was leaked by an unencrypted Steam upload, making the game’s PC files accessible before launch. Forza Horizon 6 leaked files were uploaded to Steam. The leak includes a large amount of game content, with early reports pointing to around 155 GB of data appearing online.

Playground Games and Xbox Game Studios have not publicly commented on the leak at the time of writing, so the situation should still be treated as a leak rather than an officially confirmed statement from either company.

Insider Gaming reported that the files appeared through an unencrypted Steam repository and included thousands of assets from the game.

1. What Happened With the Forza Horizon 6 Steam Preload?

Forza Horizon 6 has reportedly leaked because of an unencrypted Steam preload upload. Unlike a trailer, screenshot, or marketing leak, this report claims a large PC build of Forza Horizon 6 was uploaded through Steam without the encryption normally expected for preload files.

Preloads are usually meant to let players download a game before launch while keeping the files locked until the release date. In this case, the files were accessible early because the Steam upload was not properly encrypted.

Insider Gaming reported that Playground Games appeared to have posted an unencrypted repository of Forza Horizon 6 files on Steam, which then led to the game’s content spreading online before launch.

2. How Much Content Leaked

The reported Forza Horizon 6 leak includes around 155 GB of content. That number is important because it lines up closely with the game’s PC preload size. Earlier preload information listed the Xbox PC version at more than 156 GB, while the Xbox Series X|S version was also close to a very large download.

The leaked files included thousands of assets. Some online claims also suggest that users were able to access or run parts of the game before launch, but those claims should be treated carefully unless confirmed by official sources.

3. Why the Leak Is Being Linked to Steam Preload Files

Steam preloads are normally encrypted before launch. That means players can download the data early, but they cannot properly access the game files until the official release unlock happens. According to the leaks and SteamDB files, the problem was that the Forza Horizon 6 files were uploaded in a way that made them accessible before release.

This is why the story is being framed as a preload mistake rather than a traditional datamine. A datamine usually happens when players dig through available files after they are legitimately downloaded or released.

4. Forza Horizon 6 Cracked and Shared on Torrents

The biggest update is that Forza Horizon 6 is now cracked and being shared through torrents and piracy sites. Separate reports have since claimed that pirates are already playing the leaked PC build, with a full working version allegedly circulating on torrent sites more than a week before release.

5. Has Playground Games or Xbox Responded?

Because neither company has commented, claims about playable builds, pirated copies, or the full scope of the leak remain unconfirmed.

That matters because the current information is coming from reports, online posts, and leak-focused communities rather than an official statement. Until there is an official response, claims about playable builds, pirated copies, or the full scope of the leak should be handled with caution.

6. Forza Horizon 6 Devs Give Hardware Ban to Players

Do not use the leaked Forza Horizon 6 build or try to access the game before your official unlock time. Playground Games has said it is taking strict enforcement action against anyone found accessing the unreleased build, including franchise-wide bans and hardware bans.

This does not affect normal players who wait for the official release, redeem the Crunchyroll Car Voucher properly, and play through Xbox, the Microsoft Store, Steam, or Game Pass. It only applies to unauthorized access to the leaked build before launch.

Some players have already been shown bans lasting until December 31, 9999, which is effectively a permanent ban. That works out to just under 8,000 years, so players should treat it as a lifetime ban rather than a normal temporary suspension.

7. Forza Horizon 6 Release Date and Early Access Timing

Forza Horizon 6 is still expected to launch globally on May 19, 2026. Premium Edition and Premium Upgrade owners are expected to receive early access from May 15, 2026

There is currently no official indication that the leak has changed the release date, early access timing, or launch plans. Players who want to avoid potential risks should wait for the official release through Steam, the Xbox app, or the Microsoft Store rather than downloading leaked files from unofficial sources.
