Update 1.4.0 put 11 Transcendent Weapons above Ultimate Weapons at the top of the gear ladder in The First Descendant. Raw damage is the wrong way to compare them, because five of the 11 only function on a Descendant whose skill attribute matches theirs.
The order below sorts every Transcendent Weapon by how many builds can actually use it, then by ceiling.
1. How Transcendent Weapons Are Ranked
Two systems decide how good a Transcendent Weapon is for you: Quality, which controls raw performance, and build fit, which controls how much of the weapon you can access at all. A Quality 400 weapon on the wrong Descendant loses most of its damage.
Every Transcendent Weapon rolls a Quality value from 1 to 400 on drop. Quality sits inside four Quality Ranges, and performance jumps each time a weapon crosses into the next range.
- Range 1: Quality 1 to 100
- Range 2: Quality 101 to 200
- Range 3: Quality 201 to 300
- Range 4: Quality 301 to 400
Your Base Quality rises every time you acquire a Transcendent Weapon and caps at 400. That value sets the guaranteed minimum on future drops, so early farming feeds later farming even when the roll is low.
The 11 weapons split into two families. Six of them carry their damage inside the weapon and work on any Descendant. The other five raise a single attribute’s Skill Power Amplification Rate and pay out only when your skills apply their status effect first.
Nexon’s Update 1.4.0 notes state that Transcendent Weapon stats are being reworked for Descendants whose skills carry the Exclusive Weapon tag, because those skills do not yet take the full benefit of Transcendent Weapon growth.
Descendants built around firearm-replacing skills gain less from a high-Quality drop than the rest of the roster until that change lands.
2. Best Transcendent Weapons Tier List
Storm Cage is the strongest pick overall because it needs no attribute match and inherits an existing Thunder Cage module setup. The table sorts all 11 by build fit, with the weapons that work on any Descendant sitting above the attribute-locked ones.
| Rank | Weapon | Best Build Fit |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Storm Cage | Any firearm build |
| 2 | Malicious Dominator | Weak point builds |
| 3 | ARMIS | Add clear builds |
| 4 | Unleashed Instinct | Shotgun builds |
| 5 | Raging Light | Boss damage builds |
| 6 | Emperor’s Guard Lance | Stationary fights |
| 7 | Sparky | Electric skill builds |
| 8 | Frost Blossom | Chill skill builds |
| 9 | Volcanic Heart | Fire skill builds |
| 10 | Nightmare Launcher | Toxic skill builds |
| 11 | ATR-0 Prototype | Non-Attribute builds |
3. Best Transcendent Weapons Ranked 1 to 11
Each entry below lists the weapon type, the Transcendent Ability that drives its damage, and the one habit that turns the ability on.
Four of these weapons are enhanced versions of existing Ultimate Weapons and can inherit their module setups, making them the cheapest upgrades on the list.
3.1. Storm Cage: Best All-Round Transcendent Weapon
The Storm Cage is the best first Transcendent Weapon for the widest range of builds because all three of its damage layers fire from the gun itself with no attribute or Descendant requirement.
- Weapon type: Submachine Gun, General Rounds
- Electric Shockwave: firearm hits have a chance to damage nearby targets
- Lightning Burst: A set number of firearm critical hits trigger a burst on the target
- Lightning Storm: defeating an enemy has a chance to create a storm at that location
- Strategy: build Critical Hit Rate first, since Lightning Burst is the layer you control
The upgrade path is the other reason it ranks first. Storm Cage is the enhanced form of Thunder Cage, so an existing module setup can be transferred via the Implant feature, avoiding the need for a new investment.
3.2. Malicious Dominator: Best Weak Point Damage
Malicious Dominator turns accurate shooting into area damage, which makes it the strongest option for players who already aim for weak points rather than spraying into crowds.
- Weapon type: Hand Cannon, Impact Rounds
- Blade of Malice: hits generate a blade that bounces between multiple enemies
- Encroachment of Evil: weak point hits apply damage over time that grows with stacks
- Malicious Explosion: kills detonate at the target, dealing damage and inflicting Poison
- Strategy: stack Encroachment of Evil on one target before rotating off it
It is the enhanced form of Malevolent, so the Implant feature carries that module setup across. Impact Rounds keep it useful against enemy types that shrug off General Rounds.
3.3. ARMIS: Best Multi-Hit Firearm
The ARMIS is the strongest of the seven brand-new Transcendent Weapons for firearm builds because its missile cycle scales with Multi-Hit rather than with any Descendant attribute.
- Weapon type: Assault Rifle, General Rounds
- Countdown: equipping grants max stacks, and each hit fires an Interceptor Missile and drains a stack
- Multi-Hit bonus: A Multi-Hit launches an extra missile and drains an extra stack
- Small Warhead Rocket: The next shot after Countdown empties fires a rocket
- Missile Fragment: targets hit by missiles or rockets make later shots ricochet to nearby enemies
- Strategy: prioritize Multi-Hit Chance so Countdown cycles into rockets faster
ARMIS has no Ultimate Weapon equivalent, so there is no Implant shortcut. Treat it as a second project after a cheaper upgrade is running.
3.4. Unleashed Instinct: Best Shotgun for Raven
Unleashed Instinct has the highest ceiling of the new firearm weapons and the narrowest entry requirement, since everything it does keys off shotgun pellet damage.
- Weapon type: Shotgun, High-Power Rounds
- Bloody Hunt: A higher Reload Time Modifier increases Load Capacity
- Excessive Bleeding: pellet damage inflicts bleed, and damaging or killing a bleeding enemy causes an explosion
- Hunting Instinct: applying the bleed grants Movement Speed and extra shotgun damage
- Strategy: stay inside a group so nearby bleeding enemies keep refreshing Hunting Instinct
Reload Time Modifier is a dump stat on most weapons and a damage stat here, so readjust toward it rather than away from it. Raven pairs natively with this weapon, since her passive raises Firearm ATK and Movement Speed while a Shotgun is equipped.
3.5. Raging Light: Best Sniper Rifle for Boss Damage
Raging Light rewards a scoped, deliberate playstyle and falls off in fast add clear, which is why it sits below the three weapons above it despite a strong single-target payoff.
- Weapon type: Sniper Rifle, High-Power Rounds
- Brand of Light: a set number of aimed hits creates the brand on a target
- Dispel: hitting the brand deals extra damage and applies the effect
- Raging Light: an aimed Multi-Hit on the brand bounces between enemies, gaining damage per bounce
- Strategy: every payoff requires aiming, so never hip-fire this weapon
It replaces Piercing Light and inherits that module setup through Implant, which keeps the upgrade cost low for players already running a sniper build.
3.6. Emperor’s Guard Lance: Best Beam Rifle for Colossus Fights
Emperor’s Guard Lance asks you to set up before you shoot, so it performs in Intercept Battles and struggles in mobile content where targets scatter.
- Weapon type: Beam Rifle, Special Rounds
- Preview Mode: aiming activates it, and firing while active deploys a Lance
- Lance limit: deploying past the maximum removes the oldest Lance first
- Emperor’s Majesty: enough firearm hits inside a Lance’s range trigger damage to everything in that area
- Emperor’s Judgment: enough Multi-Hits inside range calls down damage on the target
- Strategy: deploy Lances during a Colossus stagger window, then fire into the marked area
The weapon upgrades from King’s Guard Lance and accepts its Implant. Special Rounds make the ammo economy tighter than on the General Rounds picks.
3.7. Sparky: Best Pick for Electric Skill Builds
Sparky is the strongest of the five attribute-locked weapons because Electric is the most widely played skill attribute, so more accounts can turn it on immediately.
- Weapon type: Handgun, General Rounds
- Zap: holding the weapon raises Electric Skill Power Amplification Rate
- Tingle: Electric skill hits apply it, and firearm hits on affected targets deal extra damage
- Tingling Shock: Electric skill or firearm kills can hit high-HP targets in range for extra damage
- Strategy: open with an Electric skill, then finish with the handgun to collect the bonus damage
Tingling Shock targeting high-HP enemies makes it better against elites than the rest of the attribute set. Bunny and Ines get the most from it.
3.8. Frost Blossom: Best Pick for Chill Skill Builds
Frost Blossom is the best sustained-fire option of the attribute weapons, since a Machine Gun converts a Frost Seed into damage across far more shots than a burst weapon does.
- Weapon type: Machine Gun, General Rounds
- Bloom: holding the weapon raises Chill Skill Power Amplification Rate
- Frost Seed: Chill skill hits apply it, and firearm hits on affected targets deal extra damage
- Frost Explosion: Chill skill or firearm kills can damage nearby enemies
- Strategy: apply Chill across a group first, then hold fire on the largest cluster
Viessa, Hailey, and Dia all apply Chill on a short enough cycle to keep Frost Seed running. The Machine Gun magazine covers the reload gaps that hurt Sparky in longer fights.
3.9. Volcanic Heart: Best Pick for Fire Skill Builds
Volcanic Heart drops a rank below the Chill and Electric options because its kill reward centers on you rather than on the enemy, which forces closer positioning than most Fire builds want.
- Weapon type: Scout Rifle, Impact Rounds
- Pulsating Ember: Fire skill hits apply it, and firearm hits on affected targets deal extra damage
- Magma: Fire skill or firearm kills can grant the effect to you, damaging nearby enemies
- Impact Rounds: the only attribute weapon that covers this ammo type
- Strategy: fight at mid-range, so Magma still reaches a group after each kill
Lepic, Esiemo, Blair, and Serena all apply Fire reliably. Impact Rounds coverage is the practical reason to pick it up even at a lower Quality roll.
3.10. Nightmare Launcher: Best Pick for Toxic Skill Builds
Nightmare Launcher carries a built-in penalty that pushes it near the bottom: its bonus damage drops as the number of targets hit rises, and Toxic builds live in crowds.
- Weapon type: Launcher, High-Power Rounds
- Dreadful Dream: holding the weapon raises Toxic Skill Power Amplification Rate
- Purple Nightmare: Toxic skill hits apply it, and firearm hits deal extra damage to affected targets
- Crowd penalty: that extra damage shrinks as more targets are hit by the same shot
- Venom Explosion: Toxic kills can damage a radius, grant Enemies’ Nightmare, and refund 1 High-Power Round
- Strategy: fire into single elites instead of packs to keep the damage bonus at full value
The round refund keeps a Launcher usable as a primary rather than a burst tool. Freyna and Keelan are the Descendants who apply Purple Nightmare the fastest.
3.11. ATR-0 Prototype: Best Pick for Non-Attribute Skill Builds
ATR-0 Prototype ranks last because it carries two gates at once: an ammo resource you have to generate and the Exclusive Weapon scaling problem that hits Non-Attribute Descendants hardest.
- Weapon type: Tactical Rifle, Special Rounds
- Protocol Zero: holding the weapon raises the Non-Attribute Skill Power Amplification Rate
- Arche Energy Bullets: using a Non-Attribute skill grants them, and firearm hits consume them for extra damage
- Arche Explosion: kills with a Non-Attribute skill or Arche Energy Bullet trigger nearby damage
- Strategy: keep a low-cost Non-Attribute skill on cooldown purely to restock bullets
Ajax, Gley, Enzo, Valby, and Nell are the target audience. Several of them lean on firearm-replacing skills, which is exactly the interaction Nexon is reworking, so this ranking carries a patch dependency that the other ten do not.
4. Best Transcendent Weapon for Each Descendant Archetype
The fastest way to choose is to start from your main rather than from the tier list. Match your Descendant’s damage source to the weapon that reads it, then farm Quality for that one weapon instead of spreading Transcendent Trait Element across several.
- Electric skill builds: Sparky, applied through Tingle before firearm damage
- Chill skill builds: Frost Blossom, with Frost Seed spread across a group first
- Fire skill builds: Volcanic Heart, played at mid-range for Magma coverage
- Toxic skill builds: Nightmare Launcher, aimed at single elites
- Non-Attribute skill builds: ATR-0 Prototype, once Exclusive Weapon scaling improves
- Firearm damage builds: Storm Cage for General Rounds, Malicious Dominator for Impact Rounds, ARMIS for General Rounds Multi-Hit setups, or Raging Light for High-Power boss damage
- Shotgun builds: Unleashed Instinct, which Raven’s passive supports directly
