Nintendo Switch 2 players receive the Tarnished Pack as part of Tarnished Edition, while the same content is available separately on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
Bandai Namco confirms that the two new starting classes—Idus Knight and Heavy Knight—have equipment that can also be obtained from merchants or found in the world, so existing characters can collect the new gear without restarting.
1. All New Weapons & Armor Locations in Elden Ring
The Tarnished Pack adds new weapons, shields, and armor sets that can be purchased from merchants, found in the Lands Between, or earned from new NPC invasions. Several weapons also bring Shadow of the Erdtree weapon categories into the base-game regions.

| Idus Sword | Light Greatsword | Southern Liurnia |
| Hefty Scimitar | Curved Greatsword | Merchant near Fort Haight |

| Reed Great Katana | Great Katana | Dragonbarrow |
| Ritual Thrusting Shield | Thrusting Shield | Caelid Colosseum |
| Leontiel’s Greatsword | Greatsword | Knight Leontiel invasion |
| Golden Order Flail | Flail | Noble Broken Mask invasion |
| Silver Grooved Shield | Shield | Merchant near Bellum Church |
| Silver Grooved Set | Armor | Merchant near Bellum Church |

| Gold Tattoo Set | Armor | Noble Broken Mask invasion |
2. All New Tarnished Edition Weapon Locations
The seven new weapons are spread from early-game Limgrave and Liurnia to Caelid and Leyndell. Idus Sword and Hefty Scimitar are also starting weapons for the two new Tarnished Edition classes, but both remain obtainable on existing characters.
2.1. Idus Sword Location
The Idus Sword is the signature weapon of the new Idus Knight class and belongs to the Light Greatsword weapon category. Starting as Idus Knight gives you the weapon immediately, but every other character can pick it up in southern Liurnia.
- Travel to the Liurnia Lake Shore Site of Grace.
- Ride northwest into the shallow swamp.
- Continue toward the nearby trees.
- Look for a corpse near two Wraith enemies.
- Loot the corpse to obtain the Idus Sword.
The weapon comes with Piercing Thrust, letting you drive the blade forward with a thrusting attack capable of getting through an enemy’s guard. You do not need to start a new game as Idus Knight to collect it.
2.2. Hefty Scimitar Location
The Hefty Scimitar is the Heavy Knight’s starting weapon and is classified as a Curved Greatsword. Existing characters can simply buy one in eastern Limgrave.
- Travel to Fort Haight West in eastern Limgrave.
- Head north from the Site of Grace.
- Find the Nomadic Merchant along the road north/northwest of Fort Haight.
- Open his shop.
- Buy the Hefty Scimitar for 2,400 Runes.
The weapon comes equipped with Spinning Slash. Starting a new character as the Heavy Knight gives you the Hefty Scimitar immediately.
2.3. Reverse-Bladed Sword Location
The Reverse-Bladed Sword is a new Backhand Blade that lets players access this Shadow of the Erdtree-style weapon category directly in the base game’s progression. It is also one of the easiest Tarnished Edition weapons to obtain.
- Unlock Roundtable Hold.
- Visit the Twin Maiden Husks.
- Open their normal shop inventory.
- Purchase the Reverse-Bladed Sword for 1,000 Runes.
No Bell Bearing or additional quest is required. The Reverse-Bladed Sword comes with Blind Spot, the evasive Backhand Blade skill that lets you slip around an enemy’s side before attacking.
2.4. Reed Great Katana Location
The Reed Great Katana is a new Great Katana located in Greyoll’s Dragonbarrow. You can collect it without entering the Realm of Shadow, making Great Katana gameplay available during the main game’s progression.
- Travel to the Fort Faroth Site of Grace in Dragonbarrow.
- Head north toward Elder Dragon Greyoll.
- Find the huge white mound covered in red growths beside Greyoll.
- Climb to the top of the mound.
- Look for a corpse lying at the top.
- Loot it to obtain the Reed Great Katana.
You can still find the location if Greyoll is already dead—the mound sits almost directly north of Fort Faroth.
The Reed Great Katana comes with Overhead Stance, another weapon skill originating from the Great Katana moveset introduced in Shadow of the Erdtree.
2.5. Ritual Thrusting Shield Location
The Ritual Thrusting Shield brings the Thrusting Shield weapon category into the Lands Between. It is found inside the Caelid Colosseum behind the Great-Jar. Reaching it requires access to the Deep Siofra Well.
- Enter Siofra River from the Siofra River Well in eastern Limgrave.
- Progress through Siofra to the lift at the northern end.
- Use two Stonesword Keys to activate the lift.
- Ride it up to the Deep Siofra Well in Caelid.
- Head west toward the enormous Great-Jar.
- Approach the Colosseum behind him.
- Open the doors and loot the corpse inside for the Ritual Thrusting Shield.
You can run past most enemies between Deep Siofra Well and the Colosseum if you only want the item. The shield requires 13 Strength and 12 Dexterity and comes with Shield Strike.
2.6. Leontiel’s Greatsword Location
Leontiel’s Greatsword is tied to a new NPC invasion in Starscourge Radahn’s arena. Unlike the previous weapons, you must first defeat Starscourge Radahn before the invasion becomes available.
- Defeat Starscourge Radahn.
- Rest or return to the Starscourge Radahn Site of Grace.
- Mount Torrent and ride north/northeast across the battlefield.
- Head in the direction of the War-Dead Catacombs.
- Approach the ruined structures along this route.
- Knight Leontiel will invade.
- Defeat Leontiel to receive Leontiel’s Greatsword and the complete Leontiel armor set.
Leontiel can also appear as a summon during the Radahn encounter before becoming an invader afterward.
The Greatsword requires 13 Strength and 26 Dexterity and has the unique Muleta skill, an evasive maneuver that rapidly circles an enemy before setting up an attack.
2.7. Golden Order Flail Location
The Golden Order Flail is obtained from another new NPC invader, The Noble Broken Mask, in Leyndell. This is the one weapon in the guide you need to be particularly careful with because the encounter becomes unavailable after Leyndell changes into the Ashen Capital.
You need Law of Regression to trigger the encounter if you have not already completed the Radagon statue revelation.
- Progress through Leyndell, Royal Capital.
- Defeat the golden shade of Godfrey, First Elden Lord.
- From the Erdtree Sanctuary Site of Grace, obtain the Golden Order Principia from the upper area of the sanctuary.
- Give the prayerbook to Brother Corhyn or Miriel and learn Law of Regression.
- Law of Regression requires 37 Intelligence to cast.
- Return to Erdtree Sanctuary, take the exit down the stairs, then ride the lift down toward the large Radagon statue.
- Stand on the developer message referring to Regression and cast Law of Regression.
- The statue reveals the “Radagon is Marika” secret.
- The Noble Broken Mask invades in this area.
- Defeat the invader to receive the Golden Order Flail, Broken Gold Mask, and Gold Tattoo armor pieces.
If you already revealed the Radagon statue earlier in the playthrough, approach the area again to trigger the new invasion.
The Golden Order Flail has the unique Causality Wraith skill, which uses incoming damage to power its counterattack mechanic. Collect this before Leyndell becomes the Ashen Capital.
3. All New Tarnished Edition Armor Set Locations
There are four new armor sets in the Tarnished Pack. Two belong to the new starting classes and can also be purchased from existing base-game merchants, while the other two are rewards from the new Leontiel and Noble Broken Mask invasions.
3.1. Silver Grooved Armor Set Location
The Silver Grooved Set is the starting armor for the Idus Knight. If you start as another class—or want it on an existing save—you can purchase the entire set from a Nomadic Merchant in northern Liurnia.
| Armor Piece | Price |
|---|---|
| Silver Grooved Helm | 1,000 Runes |
| Silver Grooved Armor | 1,500 Runes |
| Silver Grooved Gauntlets | 1,000 Runes |
| Silver Grooved Greaves | 1,000 Runes |
To find the merchant:
- Travel into northern Liurnia of the Lakes.
- Head toward the ravine leading to Ruin-Strewn Precipice.
- Look for the Nomadic Merchant on the eastern side of the ravine.
- His position is north of Bellum Church, southeast of Caria Manor, and west of the Grand Lift of Dectus.
- Purchase the four Silver Grooved armor pieces.
Silver Grooved Shield Location
The Silver Grooved Shield is also part of the Idus Knight’s equipment but is separate from the four armor slots. Visit the same Nomadic Merchant near Bellum Church and purchase the shield for 2,000 Runes.
3.2. Steel Armor Set Location
The Steel Set is the Heavy Knight’s starting armor. Existing characters can purchase every piece from the Isolated Merchant in the Weeping Peninsula. Starting as the Heavy Knight gives you this armor immediately.
| Armor Piece | Price |
|---|---|
| Steel Helm | 1,000 Runes |
| Steel Armor | 1,500 Runes |
| Steel Gauntlets | 1,000 Runes |
| Steel Greaves | 1,000 Runes |
To get it:
- Travel to the western Weeping Peninsula.
- Head toward the Isolated Merchant’s Shack.
- The shack is near the western coast, south of the Fourth Church of Marika and Witchbane Ruins.
- Speak with the Isolated Merchant.
- Purchase all four Steel pieces.
3.3. Leontiel’s Armor Set Location
The Leontiel Set drops together with Leontiel’s Greatsword from Knight Leontiel in Caelid. There is no merchant alternative—you need to complete the invasion.
- Defeat Starscourge Radahn.
- Return to his battlefield.
- Ride north/northeast from the Starscourge Radahn Site of Grace.
- Continue toward War-Dead Catacombs.
- Enter the invasion area near the ruined structures.
- Defeat Knight Leontiel.
- The entire armor set and Leontiel’s Greatsword are awarded from the encounter.
3.4. Broken Gold Mask and Gold Tattoo Set Location
The final new armor comes from The Noble Broken Mask in Leyndell and is obtained alongside the Golden Order Flail.
- Reach Erdtree Sanctuary in Leyndell.
- Acquire the Golden Order Principia.
- Learn Law of Regression.
- Go down to the large Radagon statue below Erdtree Sanctuary.
- Cast Law of Regression from the developer message in front of the statue.
- Trigger the Noble Broken Mask invasion.
- Defeat the invader.
- Collect all four armor pieces and the Golden Order Flail.
The Gold Tattoo pieces increase Faith but reduce Focus, lowering resistance to Sleep and Madness.
