Tel-Rea Vokoss is the only permanent Jedi Operator in Star Wars Zero Company. Dark Waters introduces her during the main story, while completing Smugglers’ Den in the later Jedi Undercover chain adds her to the roster.
Recruiting her is only the first part of the challenge. Tel-Rea’s Jedi Padawan Specialization cannot be assigned to a custom Operator, and her death removes the class from that campaign when permadeath is active. A safe control build lets her dominate enemy positioning without gambling the roster’s only Force user.
1. How to Recruit Tel-Rea Vokoss
Complete Smugglers’ Den in the Jedi Undercover storyline to recruit Tel-Rea. Her earlier appearance in Dark Waters doesn’t add her to the roster, so keep prioritizing Critical missions until the later recruitment mission opens.
- Prioritize Critical missions: Advance the main campaign instead of filling every Cycle with optional work. Smugglers’ Den is tied to story progression rather than the Recruitment Facility.
- Complete Dark Waters: Play the campaign mission where Zero Company first encounters Tel-Rea. This meeting introduces her but does not add her to the roster.
- Follow Jedi Undercover: Continue the campaign chain until Smugglers’ Den becomes available at the Holotable. Check mission timers before spending the Cycle on optional content.
- Finish Smugglers’ Den: Raid the Slugrat headquarters and advance to the final Droideka encounter. Tel-Rea assists during this fight.
- Defeat the Droideka: Pressure its shield with concentrated attacks and use Overwatch while it rolls between positions. Completing the mission adds Tel-Rea to Zero Company at no recruitment cost.
How to Beat the Droideka in Smugglers’ Den
The Droideka is a shield management fight. Concentrated pressure breaks its protection faster than scattered attacks, so prepare the squad before committing several Operators to the same damage window.
Keep one ranged Operator on Overwatch because the Droideka exposes itself while rolling between positions. Deal with nearby Slugrats when they block safe movement or threaten a flank, then return the squad’s fire to the Destroyer Droid.
Tel-Rea does not need to duel the boss. Use her Force abilities to control weaker enemies while the rest of the squad pressures the shield. Her short-range attacks can leave her exposed, so commit to melee only when she has cover or a safe route back.
2. Best Tel-Rea Vokoss Jedi Build
The best Tel-Rea build develops Force Push, Padawan Training, Strong with the Force, and Shockwave before expanding into Wayseeker. Start with Force Push for immediate control or Strong with the Force for stronger personal defense.
| Ability | Cost | Key Rank Bonuses |
|---|---|---|
| Strong with the Force | Passive | Starts at 2 Harmony and reaches 6 at Rank V |
| Push | 1 AP | 6 to 12 damage, +4 impact per object, and Disorient at Rank VI |
| Shockwave | 6 Advantage | 12 damage in 4m to 24 damage in 5m, then grants Harmony per enemy hit |
| Padawan Training | Passive | 30% Deflection, then movement, melee critical chance, and Meditation slots |
Best Focus Upgrade Order
Upgrade Push first for immediate control and Overwatch setups, then invest in Padawan Training to strengthen Tel-Rea’s movement and protection. Strong with the Force is the alternative first choice when keeping her safe takes priority over early displacement damage.
- Push: Take this first for displacement, cover removal, and Overwatch triggers. Rank it higher when control matters more than raw melee damage.
- Padawan Training: Invest next to make Tel-Rea safer after she moves into Force range, especially before tougher missions.
- Strong with the Force: Prioritize this earlier when survivability matters more than early Push damage.
- Shockwave: Add this after the core safety tools are online, then use it when enemies cluster tightly enough to justify the Advantage cost.
Focus is spent per Operator, so keep Tel-Rea in a stable squad rotation to build Bonds and maintain her upgrade pace. Stop short of a final rank when another core ability gives the squad a more immediate benefit.
What Wayseeker Adds to Tel-Rea’s Build
Tel-Rea gains the Wayseeker Specialization when campaign progression opens her second Specialization. Wayseeker adds Force Pull and Lightsaber Throw, giving her more control without ending her turn beside enemies.
Upgrade Force Pull (costs 1 AP) before Lightsaber Throw (costs 10 Advantage). Pair Pull with Push to reposition targets from either direction, create better Overwatch angles, cluster enemies for area attacks, and separate dangerous units from their support.
3. How to Use Force Push Into Overwatch
The Force Push into Overwatch combo is Tel-Rea’s most reliable squad tactic. Prepare the firing lane first, then knock an enemy out of cover and through the Overwatch cone to trigger a reaction shot against an exposed target.
- Choose the target: Prioritize an enemy protected by strong cover or one that threatens the squad on its next turn.
- Place the shooter: Move a Rifle, Longarm, or other accurate ranged Operator into a clear line of sight.
- Set Overwatch: Aim the cone across the tile or route where the pushed enemy will travel. A shorter, focused cone preserves a stronger hit chance.
- Move Tel-Rea safely: Enter Force Push range from cover and avoid ending beside a group that can surround her.
- Push through the cone: Select a direction that removes the target’s cover and carries it into the prepared reaction zone.
- Finish or withdraw: Eliminate the exposed enemy with the remaining squad actions. If it survives, move Tel-Rea away from its retaliation path.
This combination becomes stronger when the target can also collide with an obstacle or land near an explosive object.
4. Best Squad for Tel-Rea Vokoss
Tel-Rea works best with an Overwatch shooter, a Medic, and one flex slot based on the mission’s risk. The final slot decides between faster Advantage generation and stronger protection after she moves into close range.
- Tel-Rea Vokoss: Controls enemy positions with Push and Pull, then uses lightsabers to finish isolated targets.
- Luco Bronc or Sharpshooter: Covers long lanes and turns forced movement into reaction damage.
- Medic Operator: Carries healing support, improves Rally recovery, and keeps injuries from snowballing during a mission.
- Flex slot: Pick a Scout for Combat Recon and faster Advantage generation, or pick a Heavy/Kabb for stronger protection and extra knockback.
An Astromech with a Med-Pac can replace the Medic when extra utility and Action Point support are better suited to the mission. Keep the healer close enough to reach Tel-Rea, but outside the same blast area or enemy firing lane.
5. How to Keep Tel-Rea Alive
Tel-Rea follows the same injury and permadeath rules as other Operators. Each Down adds an Injury, and the third Injury causes death on standard difficulty with permadeath enabled. Tel-Rea cannot be replaced by another Jedi after that death.
Permadeath is enabled by default and can be disabled in the campaign settings. If it remains active, treat Tel-Rea as a control unit until the squad has reduced incoming fire and created a safe melee finish.
How Injuries Affect Tel-Rea
Every Injury applies a -10% Chance-to-Hit penalty until it is treated. One Injury lowers Tel-Rea’s accuracy by 10%, while two Injuries lower it by 20% and leave her one Down away from permanent death.
- Treat the first Injury: Send Tel-Rea to the Medbay before selecting her for another Tactical Mission. On Hard and Expert, the Bacta Tank is disabled, so each Injury takes a full Cycle in a standard Medbay bed instead of an instant Credit heal.
- Bring a Medic: First Responder makes Rally return a Downed ally at full Health. A non-Medic Rally restores only part of their Health and leaves them exposed to another Down.
- Keep an exit route: Do not spend every Action Point moving into melee unless the target dies and Tel-Rea ends outside enemy crossfire.
- Respect non-blaster threats: Deflection helps against blaster fire but does not make Tel-Rea immune to melee attacks, explosives, hazards, or flanking shots.
- Rally and retreat: If she is Downed, restore her and move her behind the squad instead of resuming the attack with reduced Health.
- Avoid dangerous Operations: Do not assign Tel-Rea to risky Holotable work while she carries an Injury, since Operations can also inflict injuries.
Beskar Mode and Permanent Death
Beskar Mode is separate from the main difficulty and uses one persistent save. When it is combined with permadeath, an earlier manual save cannot restore Tel-Rea after a fatal third Injury, so use it only for a campaign built around permanent consequences.
The central rule is simple: a healthy Tel-Rea can take calculated risks, while an injured Tel-Rea belongs in the Medbay.
6. Tel-Rea Vokoss Jedi FAQ
Tel-Rea’s unique class creates several rules that differ from normal recruitment and Specialization choices. These answers cover the main points players need before investing Focus or taking her into a permadeath mission.
Can You Recruit a Custom Jedi?
No. The Jedi Padawan class belongs only to Tel-Rea Vokoss and cannot be selected for a custom Operator. Tel-Rea cannot respec out of it. Other Jedi can appear as temporary story allies, including Anakin Skywalker, but they do not join the permanent roster.
Can You Get Tel-Rea Back After She Dies?
No. Tel-Rea’s death is permanent when permadeath is enabled, and no replacement Jedi becomes available during that campaign. The story continues without her and the Jedi Padawan class. Disable permadeath if retaining every authored Operator is the priority.
Is Wayseeker Better Than Jedi Padawan?
Wayseeker expands Tel-Rea’s existing kit instead of replacing her Jedi Padawan identity. Force Pull and Lightsaber Throw add control and ranged pressure, while Force Push, Padawan Training, and Harmony remain the foundation of her safest build.
