Star Wars Zero Company Builds – Best Team Compositions

Create stronger Star Wars Zero Company squads with the best team compositions, Operator builds, role combinations, and tactical setups for each campaign stage.

Star Wars Zero Company Builds – Best Team CompositionsThe best Star Wars Zero Company team compositions are built around four different jobs rather than simply stacking your strongest Operators.

A good squad needs someone generating Advantage, a frontline Operator who can create kills and reposition enemies, a high-damage finisher, and someone capable of controlling the battlefield from range.

For most of the campaign, Kabb, Jae, Hawks, and Tel-Rea Vokoss form the strongest all-purpose squad. Early on, Trick fills Tel-Rea’s position until she joins the company.

Once secondary Specializations become available, the same core squad becomes significantly stronger by combining Assault/Soldier, Scout/Gunslinger, Sharpshooter/Scoundrel, and Tel-Rea’s unique Padawan/Wayseeker progression.

1. Best Overall Team Composition in Star Wars Zero Company

Scoundrel Abilities

Scoundrel Abilities

The best overall squad is Kabb, Tel-Rea Vokoss, Jae Mordant, and Hawks. All four perform a different job without competing too heavily for the squad’s shared Advantage, which is particularly important because Advantage is capped at 10 and powers many of your strongest abilities.

Operator Best Build Squad Role
Kabb Uppercut Assault / Soldier Frontline damage and AP refunds
Tel-Rea Vokoss Padawan / Wayseeker Force control and burst damage
Jae Mordant Scout / Gunslinger Advantage generation and cleanup
Hawks Sharpshooter / Scoundrel Long-range damage and critical setups

2. Best Early Game Squad

Hawks Gameplay

Hawks Gameplay

Before the roster opens up, the best early-game team composition is Kabb, Trick, Jae, and Hawks. This gives you a balanced squad with frontline damage, area attacks, Advantage support, and long-range pressure without requiring any late-game Specializations.

Operator Recommended Specialization Main Job
Kabb Assault Frontline / melee
Trick Soldier Flexible damage
Jae Scout Advantage / support
Hawks Sharpshooter Long-range damage

2.1. How to Use the Early Game Squad

This squad works best when Jae and Kabb create opportunities first, allowing Trick and Hawks to finish the important targets.

  1. Open with Jae’s Combat Recon when several enemies are visible to generate Advantage.
  2. Move Kabb forward and use Bull Rush or his natural mobility to reach enemies you can finish with Uppercut.
  3. Use Trick for Brutal Strike, grenades, or Rocket Strike when enemies group together.
  4. Keep Hawks at range, using Sharpshooter abilities and Overwatch to punish exposed or moving enemies.

3. Best Mid-Game Squad After Recruiting Tel-Rea

Jae Mordant gameplay

Once Tel-Rea Vokoss becomes available, replace Trick and run Kabb, Tel-Rea, Jae, and Hawks. This is essentially the foundation of the final squad, even before the secondary Specializations are unlocked.

Operator Build Role
Kabb Assault Frontline damage
Tel-Rea Padawan Force control
Jae Scout Advantage generation
Hawks Sharpshooter Long-range damage

4. Best Endgame Operator Builds

Once secondary Specializations become available midway through the campaign, the final squad should be developed around complementary Specialization pairings. EA specifically designed this system so Operators can combine two combat roles and create stronger build synergies.

4.1. Kabb – Assault / Soldier Build

Kabb Soldier Build

Kabb Soldier Build

Kabb works best as Assault/Soldier, turning his unique Uppercut talent into the centerpiece of an aggressive melee build. Assault gives him mobility and enemy displacement, while Soldier adds more melee power and another strong close-range attack.

  • Bull Rush for closing distance and pushing enemies.
  • Fleet of Foot for improved opening movement.
  • Strike the Flanks for better critical potential against exposed targets.
  • Strength from Soldier for increased melee damage.
  • Brutal Strike for another powerful melee option.
  • Rocket Strike when multiple enemies are grouped together.

The basic goal is to soften or isolate an enemy first, then let Uppercut secure the kill and refund Kabb’s AP so he can continue acting.

4.2. Tel-Rea Vokoss – Padawan / Wayseeker Build

Tel-Rea has her own unique progression, starting as a Padawan and developing into Wayseeker rather than taking one of the eight standard secondary Specializations. Her strongest build focuses on Force displacement first and lightsaber damage second.

  • Force Push for moving enemies out of cover.
  • Padawan Training for strengthening her core Jedi capabilities.
  • Strong With the Force for Harmony generation.
  • Force Pull after Wayseeker becomes available.
  • Lightsaber Throw as her major late-game damage ability.
  • An Elegant Weapon for stronger lightsaber attacks.

Do not simply rush Tel-Rea toward the nearest enemy every turn. Use Push and Pull to arrange enemies first, then capitalize when multiple targets can be caught by Lightsaber Throw.

4.3. Jae Mordant – Scout / Gunslinger Build

Jae is the engine of the best squad, and Scout/Gunslinger lets her generate Advantage while still contributing strong mid-range damage. Combat Recon is particularly valuable because Advantage belongs to the entire squad rather than the individual Operator who generated it.

  • Combat Recon to generate Advantage from enemy groups.
  • Tactical Timing for additional Advantage opportunities.
  • The Spotter to make damaged targets easier for the squad to hit.
  • Quick Draw for a fast attack that refunds 1 AP if it gets the kill.
  • Onslaught to increase repeated primary blaster damage.
  • Open Fire for additional multi-target pressure.

Keep Jae around the middle of the battlefield, where Combat Recon can cover multiple enemies and she can maintain good sightlines for Final Shot.

4.4. Hawks – Sharpshooter / Scoundrel Build

Sharpshooter

Sharpshooter

Sharpshooter/Scoundrel is the strongest offensive Hawks setup for this squad, combining long-range precision with Vulnerable and guaranteed critical-hit setups. Hawks also retains the unique Fearless Leader talent regardless of this build.

  • Zero In for improved accuracy and critical potential while holding position.
  • Precision Shot for reliable priority-target damage.
  • Pick Them Off for stronger Overwatch.
  • Identify Weakness to make the next damaging attack against a target a guaranteed Critical Hit.
  • Never Play Fair for better Assist damage.
  • Scoundrel’s Instinct for Defense Penetration.

5. Best Alternative Squad Without Jae

Tel-Rea Vokoss

Tel-Rea Vokoss

There are situations where Jae may not be available, and because she normally handles both Advantage generation and cleanup, simply replacing her with another damage dealer leaves a major hole in the squad. The cleanest alternative is to move Hawks into her role and bring Luco Bronc into the backline.

Operator Build Role
Kabb Assault / Soldier Frontline
Tel-Rea Padawan / Wayseeker Control / burst
Hawks Scout / Gunslinger Advantage / mid-range
Luco Bronc Sharpshooter / Scoundrel Long-range damage

6. When to Use Medic, Heavy, or Astromech Squads

Joe Mordant Medic setup

You do not need to run the same Star Wars Zero Company squad for every mission. Medic, Heavy, and Astromech Operators are better as situational replacements when you need more healing, defense, or AP support instead of another damage-focused Operator.

  • Medic – Best for Survival: Bring a Medic for harder missions or permadeath runs. Combat Stim buffs an ally’s Health and damage, Morale Boost provides healing, and First Responder improves recovery while giving the Medic access to a Medpac.
  • Heavy – Best for Defense: Use a Heavy when you need someone protecting weaker squad members. Bulwark draws enemy attention while increasing defense, while Unstoppable and Intimidating Posture help punish enemies that focus the Heavy.
  • Astromech – Best for AP Support: Add an Astromech when your squad already has enough damage and you want stronger action economy. Its support abilities can provide additional AP and actions, letting your best damage dealers attack or reposition more often.

7. Best Squad Turn Order

Kabb Fire Blaster Rifle

A strong Zero Company squad is not just about picking the right four Operators. The order in which you use them determines how much value you get from Advantage, AP refunds, displacement, and status effects.

For the recommended endgame squad, use this general pattern:

  1. Start with Jae and use Combat Recon when it can detect several enemies.
  2. Use Kabb to pressure the frontline and look for an Uppercut kill that refunds his AP.
  3. Use Tel-Rea to Push or Pull enemies out of cover and line up stronger attacks.
  4. Set up priority enemies with Hawks’ Identify Weakness or long-range pressure.
  5. Spend the accumulated Advantage on the attack that produces the most value, such as Lightsaber Throw against several lined-up targets or Precision Shot against an important enemy.
